Join Our IEA Team

• Show days start around 7:00 AM with the warm up of horses
• Riders and coaches are able to watch the warm-up and take notes
• The warm-up is followed by the course walk 
• Competition starts as 9am with riders competing in the 2'6 and 2' divisions
• After the completion of the 2' riders afternoon hores will be schooled and x-rail, w/t/c, and w/t riders conclude the day. 

• Horses and tack are all provided to the students by the host teams. 
• Rider and horse are allowed a brief warm-up over 2 fences.
• Scores are based upon the rider’s equitation.
• Students compete as a team and individually.
• Each rider attends up to 5 shows during the regular season. (September - December)
• Horse shows are one-day shows (primarily on Sundays)
• IEA shows require proper show attire.

• Teams qualify for Regional Finals by accumulating twenty (20) points during the competition year.
• Riders qualify for Individual Regional Finals by accumulating at least eighteen (18) points in that class during the competition year.

1st place - 7 points

2nd place - 5 points

3rd place - 4 points

4th place- 3 points

5th place - 2 points

6th place - 1 point

• There is no need to own a horse to participate.
• Classes are offered in various ability levels: beginner, novice, intermediate, and open.
• Riders in grades 4–8 are eligible for Middle School Teams while riders in grades 9–12 compete at the High School level.
• Points are tracked for individual rider accomplishments and overall team accomplishments.
• Individuals and teams earn points to qualify for the postseason.
• The competition season starts in September and ends at the National Finals in late spring.
